A New Era, A New Website

If you’ve been following Madame Hall for a while, you probably know that I’ve been selling my designs on Etsy ever since I came to Kutch—14 years ago now! In many ways, moving to my own website feels like starting all over again. But the difference this time is that I’m not starting from scratch. My success on Etsy has taught me so much, and now I’m building from a place of knowledge, experience, and a strong foundation to reach an even wider, more global audience.

Etsy has been incredibly good to me. What began as simple conversations about clothes with women around the world has blossomed into real friendships. We’ve shared stories about our lifestyles, swapped opinions, and even talked about our pets! Some of my customers have travelled all the way to remote Bhuj just to meet me—an honour I’ll treasure forever.

So why launch a new website now?

First, Etsy’s focus has always been heavily on the U.S. market, which makes it harder for people living in India to buy from me. Being based in India myself, I’m thrilled to finally have a site that gives my Indian customers easy access to Madame Hall designs—while still serving my international followers with the unique pieces they’ve come to expect.

Second, Etsy has grown into a huge marketplace. With so many sellers and ads competing for attention, it’s become tricky for some customers to even find me. My new website will showcase Madame Hall designs exclusively—no distractions, no unrelated suggestions—just a calm, beautiful space to explore what we create.

And lastly, there’s a practical side. My Etsy store was originally set up in Australia years ago, and Etsy doesn’t allow stores to change countries. Running banking and shipping from here in India has become increasingly complicated. Having my own shop based here means simpler logistics and—best of all—more time for me to focus on designing.

To reassure you, though: nothing else is changing. We’re still the same team. My wonderful colleague Dipu and I continue to work closely with our in-house tailors to ensure every piece is a work of art. Our goal has always been, and still is, to create exceptional clothing that’s beautifully made—and that brings you compliments wherever you go!
